Gerken Materials, Inc., a leading producer of quality asphalt materials in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, creates asphalt materials in accordance with the specifications and guidelines set forth by the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), and other regulators. Working hand in hand with the customer/owner Gerken Materials Inc., supplies these high quality asphalt materials to Gerken Paving, Inc.’s numerous crews while also conveniently supplying to many other contractors and clients through its 18 different plant locations.
Gerken Materials, Inc. houses its central laboratory in Napoleon, Ohio. Utilizing experienced and MDOT & ODOT certified lab and field technicians along with the industry’s most effective equipment, the company provides various mix designs including, Marshall, Superpave, and Stone Matrix Asphalt. The company has made great strides in monitoring and controlling the “laydown” process of the material to assure a high level of quality assurance.
Gerken Materials, Inc. is now “Going Green”, by providing warm mix asphalt, an environmentally friendly alternative to hot mix asphalt. This type of asphalt is very similar to the conventional hot mix asphalt, but slight variations in production help reduce plant fuel consumption for heating and lower greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to the warm mix asphalt, the use of recycled asphalt pavement (RAP), and processed roofing shingles reduces the percent content of virgin liquid asphalt required for many of the company’s asphalt mixes.
